Got a Floyd Rose or similar piece of junk? Want to replace it with a Kahler 7300 or 7330 Hybrid instead? The PL-4 plate is the plate you want. The PL-4 plate is much larger than the PL-5. The PL-4 is wide enough to cover the edges of the biggest tremolo cavity (the famous "Floyd Void"). Floyd Voids are huge recessed fulcrum cavities used for counter-sunk systems like the FR Lo Pro and FR Lo Pro edge.

The PL-4, can be akin to taking a 4x8 piece of plywood and covering a big hole in the ground so you wont fall in, you simply lay the plate with tremolo or fixed bridge over the fulcrums deep abyss, screw it in place, effectively covering the gap and adding you some awesome bell tone resonence. That somewhat makes up for all that lost wood that was removed by overzealous FR routers during the building process. Please, don't always assume you need a plate. A plate will always raise the entire bridge 1/16", and may cause you a chain of re-adjustments to get back your desired string height. Remember, a kahler flat mount was designed to work on any flat top guitar, however a Kahler is not large in size and sometimes can't cover up everything, so sometimes a coverage/adapter plate is an easy fix. I always suggest you wait on the plate until you know if you need it. There are no refunds on plates.
