This baby rocks! Ever want to put a Kahler on a Tele? Now you can. With the PL-9 Telecaster plate, you will simply mount the slanted single coil pickup to the plate. Then drop the plate into the pickup cavity and puzzle piece the plate together with the front of the 7300 and screw them both down. This plate will surround the pickup and the plate will be a "glove fit" to the front of the new Kahler 7300 Hybrid. Installation is a snap as the pickup and the surround dictate where the tremolo is placed. Just route it "n" mount it! You will need a new custom cut pickguard for the best look. The depth of the bridge cutout is too deep and will leave a 1/2" gap between the plate and the pickguard, so I had a custom template created for the PL-9 Telecaster plate and saved by Chandler Pickguards. The template number is #PG1018-149. Their price is $66 shipped.
FYI: The PL-9 Telecaster plates will not work with the old Kahlers from the 80's that have the Kahler logo on the side. The new style frames have a softer radius on the edges as opposed to the squared corners of the old style. To make your old tremolo work with the new Telecaster plates, you will need to get a new style mounting plate or a completely new 7300 if necessary.
| Width of the plate is: 3-7/16 " or 102.4 mm |
