Routing information

How much routing is needed...

The route shape and depth is always the same. The screw holes differ in size because one model uses wood screws while the other uses wood inserts and machined posts.

If you have Les Paul or a LP type guitar with the very common Tune-o-Matic type bridge and /or a carved top guitar (see left), the route needed is still the same.

Compare to the picture below, the posts would be located where the side holes are on either side of the main route hole. The old bridge risers would be replaced with the Kahler version, and act as levelers in the front holes. Of course these hole must be drilled bigger to accomodate the new threaded inserts. But its simple enough. The route is always the same. It is a shallow 1 inch deep surface route by roughly 2.5 x 2.5 inches wide. The only Kahler model that does not need a route is the 7330 Fixed Bridge. The 7330 is not a tremolo.

Below shows the square route needed to install ANY Cam system. (A 7300 route is shown)
